Today was really a fun and interesting day. We had a lot of people come through by in ones and pairs and groups larger than fives. Some brought their kids and some brought their child like appreciation. One of the members of Invisible brought his wife and children and responded to the even saying it was the best hour he had spent in a long time. That was as good of an endorsement for me as I needed. We recorded all of the goings on with four different audio recorders. We brought in people and introduced them to what was going on and let them loose on it all. There were kids singing in Swahili and people composing a lullaby for the new dream room that Nora was in the process of constructing. Eventually we all shared a meal of Mac and cheese and some other very delicious home made offerings. Afterwards everyone brought different items into the large room and we proceeded to perform together John Cage Style. Later on one of the newest residents Corwin commented that it seemed to work really well and that there were times that things seemed to almost expand beyond the boundaries and into chaos but every time seemed to come back into something controllable. There were really no instructions given to anyone, only some silent suggestions here and there. Everyone tried to experiment and play with one another, listening and responding more than I would have expected with objects that ranged from toy balls filled with jingly things, pots, lamps, kitchen utensils, glasses, broken motors, keys, change and grates. With all the objects available and all the methods of manipulation and amplification one woman was satisfied to keep the beat by slapping her hand against her knees. Rainbow sherbet and cobbler followed the music circus. Twas a good night indeed. And outside Elsewhere the custom rides began to line up down the street for the human and auto parade that was to ensue.
